Lipa Lodge takes its name from the surrounding area, Lipa Noi and was established in 1972 by an award winning chef, Khun Toni originally from Surathani on the mainland. Toni fell in love with island’s environment; the sea, beach, the calmness and the local lifestyle. Over the years he and his family made many friends in Koh Samui.

To maintain the air of tranquillity very little has changed and the 25 acre garden setting ensures the secluded island feeling with just a handful of buildings which include the luxury of modern conveniences and all accommodation is fitted with air conditioning . Everything has been thought about to preserve the natural feel of the island right down to the celebrated cuisine of the restaurant set at the sea’s edge…Many say this is the real Koh Samui.

Traditionally on Samui, the fishermen and women fished in the bay, bringing their catch in everyday – morning and evening. The sea then, as today, was full of a wide variety of fish. Back in 1972 cooking fish and eating them on the beach was normal practice. This was the lifestyle that Toni loved and wanted his guests to experience.

Over the years Samui began to modernize but Lipa Lodge was slow to move with the times because Toni wanted to retain the atmosphere and natural environment, and now all modern conveniences have been installed but with thought and sensitivity for the surroundings.

Even today Lipa Lodge has only 11 Modern Villa Suites all with air conditioning and ensuite facilities positioned close to the sea and set in beautiful gardens. Its boutique accommodation is as tranquil now as it was in 1972. The sea is safe for swimming – ideal for families with children or of course there is the infinity swimming pool.
